Women’s Self-Defense
Rape is the most heinous crime against women. It is
assault, pure and simple, and it could result in death if things get out of
hand. Thus it’s very important to know how to defend yourself and, especially,
to realize that the bad guy is out to hurt you so the only defense is one that
will effectively render him unable to continue his assault. Blackdog is very
much a guy, but takes no stock in any so-called male who assaults women. So
I’ve asked my friend Toni Franks, who teaches women’s self-defense, to share
a few of her thoughts on how women can protect themselves. Remember, this is no
game out there. This guy is trying to hurt you, to violate you and possibly kill
you. You are fighting for your life, and that means no holds barred. Here’s
what Toni has to say:
“Women, first and foremost, don’t be an easy target.
This is how many bad guys choose their victims. Women generally smile at
everyone and try to make sure everyone is comfortable. And above all they
don’t want to be impolite or hurt someone’s feelings. Do not do this! If
someone approaches you, don’t give him a welcoming smile. Give him a “go to
hell” glare. He will likely bypass you for an easier target. Even if he is
claiming to need help, so what. My line to this is, “Keep looking, I can’t
help you.” Accompany this with that “go to hell” glare, and he will do
just that—keep walking.
“Sometimes bad guys will approach you to ask if you need
help, for example, while you are putting groceries in the car. This is a ruse.
No man hangs out in parking lots just to assist women. He is up to no good. Use
the go to hell glare and tell him no.
“If it does come to an ugly confrontation where force is being used, you must be willing to HURT him. Just think about all he’s willing to do to you if you need some motivation. Three easy things you should remember: If he can’t see, he can’t fight. If he can’t breathe, he can’t fight. If he can’t walk, he can’t fight. This means you should aim for the eyes, the windpipe and the knee. These are all very vulnerable areas.
“Gouge your thumbs in his eyes and try to push them out
the back of his head. Press or punch as hard as you can on his windpipe; try to
break it. Kick him or hit him with something in the side of the knee as hard as
you can. Do your best to break it so he can’t chase you. When you do any of
these things, make lots of noise and run like hell!”
Ladies, what Toni has to say is very wise advice. This is
no game. You are literally fighting for your life. With that in mind, follow her
instructions—they are very good methods.
