Rape Protection

Rape, one of the most heinous crimes there is, is a crime of violence—mostly against women—not a sexual crime. Some facts: (1) Rapists use psychological tactics, fear, threat of injury or death; (2) Rape victims are of all ages, social strata, ethnic backgrounds and appearances; (3) About 50% to 90% of rapists are friends, family members, acquaintances or social companions of the victim, and about 1/3 of all rapes occur in the victim’s home; (4) More than 1/3 of all rapes occur during the day; (5) The majority of rapists continue attacking until they are caught.

The most frequent rape is the assault of a school-aged female by a man of the same race. Parents should always know where their children are, what they’re doing and with whom. A teenage girl should never entertain male friends at home without supervision, nor admit strangers into the house. The young woman is safer in the company of many other young women. Parents should always insist on meeting the dates of schoolgirls living at home.

If you are attacked, you should be prepared to defend yourself physically. If you are not serious about, or not capable of, inflicting pain or physical harm on your assailant, don’t attempt it. Your best defense is escape. Legs are for running, voices are for screaming. High-heeled shoes can be used to kick, and when the attacker ducks, toss off the shoes and run like hell. You should take immediate action, with no delay. Scream while you run. A powerful, firm, loud scream alerts anyone in the area. Hysterics will simply panic the attacker. If you are trapped, you have to decide whether to fight. If he has a gun or knife, do not resist. You will get hurt physically in addition to mentally. Nearly 1 in 4 victims fight back. Screams are great, but remember that you are being attacked, and no mercy is due the attacker—NONE! Gouge his eyes, kick him in the groin, grab his testicles and squeeze and don’t let go. If both hands are free, get your hands around his neck and put your thumbs on his carotid artery. That will end an attack really fast. SHOW NO MERCY! Do to him what he wants to do to you, only worse. This is not a game, you are literally defending your life!

Weapons can be effective, but handguns, knives and mace/pepper spray are illegal, unless you have a permit to carry them. If you do, use them! If not, there are other weapons most women carry that are equally effective: A pen or pencil stuck into his eye, a hatpin stuck anywhere, a corkscrew, pepper (if you are home), a key ring with the keys protruding between your fingers and stuck into his eyes will hurt, even an umbrella used as a spear can do serious damage—aim low! But if you attack, don’t stop or let down. He can retaliate. Although the groin area is wonderful, he is likely to protect it. Oh, but are there other fun places you can hurt a guy: his stomach, throat, eyes, temples, kneecaps, ears, fingers, nose. If he attacks from the front, a kneecap to the groin will certainly end any attack. Or grab his scrotum in the groin area with both hands, squeeze, twist and then drop to the ground so the full weight of your body is on the scrotum. Let me assure you that this will most definitely end any attack. For good measure, stay there for an hour or so, screaming to attract attention, while pulling on his scrotum. When the police arrive, they most likely will find a former rapist! J

If you are still trapped, then work on emotions. Crying helps. Building up his ego you may give him the gratification he needs. If your child is with you and he threatens the child, not you, you may be trapped. No matter what happens, and hopefully nothing but the bad guy going to jail for life, report the rape immediately, seek counseling if necessary, testify against the rapist and never be ashamed. It had nothing to do with you. It is an attack, the perpetrator belongs in jail. Put him there and go on with life.

Above all, be careful out there!
